Architectural Glass
Architectural glass comes in three different strength categories :
Annealed glass, Heat-strengthened glass and Fully-tempered glass.
Annealed glass is the most commonly used architectural glass. It has good surface flatness because it is not heat-treated and therefore not subject to distortion typically produced during glass tempering. On the downside, annealed glass breaks into sharp, dangerous shards. Heat-strengthened and fully-tempered glass are heat-treated glass products, heated and quenched in such a way to create residual surface compression in the glass. The surface compression gives the glass generally higher resistance to breakage than annealed glass.
Heat-strengthened glass has at least twice the strength and resistance to breakage from wind loads or thermal stresses comparing to annealed glass. The necessary heat treatment generally results in some distortion compared to annealed glass. Like annealed glass, heat-strengthened glass can break into large shards.
Tempered glass is a heat toughened safety glass. It has undergone a special heat treatment to increase its strength and resistance to impact. In fact, tempered glass is approximately five times more resistant than normal glass. As an example, a piece of 8mm tempered glass will be able to withstand a steel ball weighing 500g dropped from a height of 2 meters.
Features:
1. 5 times harder than ordinary float glass, stronger resistance to thermal breakage than annealed or heat strengthened glass.
2. Once breakage occurs, the glass disintegrates into small cubical fragments, which are relatively harmless to human body.
3. It withstands abrupt temperature change of 220 Centigrade.
4. Sizes are produced as per customer request. Once tempered, it can not be cut down.
Usage: Window glass; Door glass; Curtain wall glass; Fencing glass in buildings, hotels, etc.
Fully-tempered glass (toughened glass)
Provides at least four times the strength of annealed glass, which gives it superior resistance to glass break- age. It is float or plate glass that has been heated and rapidly cooled, increasing its inher- ent strength and ductility. Similar to heat-strengthened glass, the heat-treatment generally results in some distortion. If it breaks, fully-tempered glass breaks into many small frag- ments, which makes it suitable as safety glazing under certain conditions. It is used for windows that are exposed to high wind pressure or extreme heat or cold.
Clear Float Glass High quality glass
Clear Float Glass is superior in quality when compared to other flat glass and has the unique characteristics of excellent surface finishing, flatness, uniform thickness, high optical quality and bright appearance. The float process was developed in the late 1950's. Float technology has been rapidly replacing plate and sheet facilities worldwide in recent decades. Float glass derives it name from the Float process used where using the latest glass-making technology, heating mountains of silica sand and other raw materials to a liquid state and floating it on a bath of molten tin to produce a perfect ribbon of glass.
Clear float glass has high light transmission, optical clarity and ability to be fabricated to meet custom needs for performance and aesthetics. It can be toughened or laminated for safety glazing or silvered to produce mirrors. It is suitable for screen-printing, acid etching and decoration with ceramic materials.
Clear Float Glass is available in thickness range of 2 mm through 25 mm.

UltraClear
Build with crystal clarity
UltraClear low-iron glass gives architects unprecedented control over light. It virtually eliminates the greenish cast associated with traditional glass—for an ice blue edge and clearly stunning results.
Accentuate the structure and color of your surroundings
UltraClear provides outstanding light transmission and clarity that makes any application with special decorative or structural elements more vivid and true. Standard glass can distort any light color. The neutral color of UltraClear eliminates this concern. All that is left is form and light. The result is unparalleled beauty and performance in doors, walls and wall coverings, railings, bath/shower enclosures, retail displays and fixtures, elevators and escalators, mirrors, furniture and case goods, floors and stairways, surfaces and tables.
Advanced technology for Ultra Clear Glass
The low-iron glass increases light transmission and neutralizes the green color of standard glass leaving a crystal clear appearance. Tight tolerances provide minimal edge color variation across various cut sizes and glass thicknesses.
Applications
UltraClear can be fabricated, laminated, painted, cut and tempered just like ordinary float glass.
Tinted glass is produced by the float technique with addition some quantities of metal oxides to color the clear glass, this coloration is achieved through adding metal oxides at the smelting stage, addition of metal oxides color doesn’t change the basic properties of the glass, Even though visible light reflectance will be slightly higher than clear glass, the color density increases with thickness, whereas the visible transmittance decreases correspondingly as thickness increases.
Body tinted glass products are produced by small additions of metal oxides to the float or rolled glass composition. These small additions colour the glass bronze, green, blue or grey but do not affect the basic properties of the glass except for changes in the solar energy transmission. The colour is homogeneous throughout the thickness.
Most float glass products contain small amounts of iron oxide which produce a green tint usually only perceived when the glass pane is viewed 'on edge'. Additional iron oxide is introduced to produce green tint, cobalt oxide for grey tint and selenium oxide for bronze tint. To produce a blue tint additional cobalt oxide is added to the float glass composition. These products are perceived as giving weak colours by transmitted light. They do not produce high or significantly coloured reflectances. Usually their principal external visual characteristic is their lower light transmission. Coated glass products with high light reflectances can exhibit stronger exterior colours than those of body tinted glass.
Transmitted light through the glass, from the building interior, diminishes the perceived effect of these reflected external colours of coated glass. Conversely, such light increases the perceived transmitted colours. Since most coated reflective glass products also exhibit colour by transmission, the transmitted coloured light from the building interior will also be seen externally in conjunction with the reflected colours producing complicated colour appearances.

Clear thick glass
Is nearly colorless, and has a green or blue/green edge. It is typically made in thicknesses ranging from 3/32" to 3/4". Clear 1/4" thick glass will allow about 90% of visible light to pass through and will reflect about 8% of visible light. When looking through the glass, as the glass gets thicker the faint green color becomes more noticeable and light transmittance drops.
